So I got daring, DorkCorp got daring. We're all running Windows 7 RC1 as our primary OS on our personal day to day computers. That's really the only thing that has changed, so here's the update.
Windows. Seven. Is. Unbelievable. It melts Vista's face off.
There is a huge criticsm going around that the new task bar has been lifted from Mac. I'll grant this point credence for but a few moments. If this true is a copy of the MacOS dock, MacOS has some catching up to do. This taskbar is without a doubt the MacOS dock, on steroids. Compare the two, this everything the MacOS dock WISHES it was and yes. I'm committing to that statement for a product that isn't even final. Jump lists, Aero Peek, the new alt tab, the new Aero interface...Microsoft has nailed it. This is everything Vista should have been.
After running it for a week or so now, we have to give it the seal of approval (despite its RC1 status.) This OS is simply brilliant, it's fun using Windows. Half the time I want to touch the screen given the way this thing is built. It just looks touch friendly (it's actually multitouch ready for any computers supporting it.)
Remote media sharing? Seriously can this get any cooler? With waves of positive of reviews for Seven, Microsoft is already on the road to RTM (release to manufacturing/market) and is still shooting to ship Windows 7 with new computers for this 2009 holiday season. As long this keeps up and Microsoft continues to re-wow people, they are set to take a large bite out of the Apple.
