Windows Mobile 6.5 - It's Your Move AT&T.

So we all know its coming. It's close. It's literally 2 weeks away. Windows Mobile 6.5 will be officially showing up on phones and select phones are getting upgrades. I look to AT&T the cellular giant, with a behemoth amount of phones choices begs the question if you bought a WinMo6.1 phone - is it eligible for a free upgrade to 6.5?

Unless you are one of the people who own a Samsung Epix or Jack - tough love says a leaked document from AT&T. (The document also shows someone at AT&T can't spell proprietary.)The image above is from BoyGeniusReport. We all knew the Jack was getting it because it was advertised "upgradeable to windows mobile 6.5!" but at least not all is forgotten...ONE PHONE from the prior lineup is going 6.5. One! Awesome! Thanks for the support!

But yea yea yea, i get it. New software, demands new hardware requirements, and thus it means a new phone if you really want that new and improved functionality. I am one of the fortunate ones, i actually purchased a Samsung Epix when it was released because it looked like a hot phone. Plus it had mouse on it! Ok, I sound like a girl when i said that (think "I bought this laptop cause it was pink!") So don't even go there people. I digress as usual. The good news? The boys at Redmond have said over 30 Windows Mobile 6.5 phones will launch BEFORE 2009 is out. Android's 10-20 seems meager now..ehh ehh ehh?!

I actually had every intention of selling my Epix to purchase the HTC Diamond 2 when it was released on AT&T (under the name Warhawk, but new rumor I heard was Pure) because the phone looks gorgeous. Has a huge screen, runs WinMo6.5, and they have that amazing TouchFlo interface that literally replaces all the things you probably hate about the WinMo interface. In fact I loved the interface so much...I hit up xdadevelopers.com and got a copy of the interface and installed it on my Epix. Needless to say. WIN.

But I'm curious how WinMo6.5 is going to run on the Epix. If anything I'm holding out just to see what a craptacular job it does. Yea, i said it...my hopes aren't that high for this device. Mainly because of screen size, its a square not the rectangular that WinMo6.5 is getting toted around on. Something tells me I'll feel limited. Then again, I do have that fancy ZuneHD that WinMo6.5 is directly copied off of...
