MWC Microsoft Key Note -- First Impression

I thought I should probably get to this before Dzak blasts out his posts, comments, links, and opinions to everyone via every possible tech avenue. Being a loyal iPhone user and supporter, I was kind of excited for the Microsoft Keynote this morning from MWC in Barcelona mainly to see what Microsoft plans to do to attack the mobile market. With past rumors of MS buying Blackberry, and the back and forth rumors of a Zune phone, as well as other reports, leaks and such, I think it is safe to say that the market was ready for Microsoft to make a change and Microsoft was ready to get back into the game, and in a big way. With the announcement of Windows Phone 7 series this morning I think Microsoft did just that, and I am impressed. They have completely revamped their mobile operating system from the ground up. The things I hated about Windows Mobile are completely gone and a new interface has been born. Me being a consultant and total business nerd I am particularly happy with the separation of personal and business use. These new phones will be able to do it all, much like the iPhone. The phones integrate a news feed that update you on everything your "People" are doing. So instead of having to go onto my iPhone and then open and close the Twitter App, Facebook App, etc, it appears I can do it all very easily on this platform. I also have room for my business life with Exchange integration and full Office integration. These are just a few things that caught my eye. Steve said it himself, that this is just a little sneak peak into what is going to come by Christmas of this year. Although it would take a lot for me to switch my phone, my music library, and my connection to the world, I am excited to see the details as they become available over the coming months. I really think that Microsoft has all the potential to really take over the mobile market for not only your average person who is most interested in texting, tweeting, and music, but also for the mobile executive, business consultants, and techies of the world who may be bored with the iPhone and ready for a change of scenery!
